Important Dates and Deadlines:


Item Due


Intent to Participate Form (one per school)


$200 check payable to Imperial County Office of Education - Science Fair (one per school)


Student Permission Slip (one per participating student)


Check-In and Project Set-up: 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm


Awards Ceremony: 6:00 pm


Project guidelines will be from the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair. Imperial County students will be eligible to enter the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair which will be held March 12-March 17, 2018 at the Balboa Park Activity Center in San Diego and the Awards Ceremony at the Viejas Arena at San Diego State University.

Deadlines & Fees

There is a $200.00 fee per participating school to cover costs. If you are interested in participating in the Imperial County Science Fair, please fill out and fax the Intent to Participate Form in the Forms & Guidelines section below on or before Friday, October 12, 2018 to (760) 312-6565.

Science Fair - Intent to Participate

Science Fair - Student Permission Slips

Student Permission Slips to enter the Imperial County Science Fair must be received on or before Monday, December 12, 2018.  Student Permission Slips may be delivered to Janet Estrada or Lynn Salcedo at ICOE, 1398 Sperber Road, El Centro, or sent through inter-district mail. The deadline will be strictly observed.

All local school science fairs must be concluded by December 7, 2018.

Student Permission Slips received after the deadline will not be accepted. For questions or concerns, please contact Janet Estrada via email at or (760) 312-6611.

Forms & Guidelines

All student projects that participate in the Imperial County Science Fair will be eligible for GSDSEF screening. No other projects will be accepted for GSDSEF screening. Screeners are no longer attending local screening fairs. Teachers and students will email projects to GSDSEF for screening. Recommended students will receive an invitation to participate in the GSDSEF via email that will include instructions for how to apply online to the fair. Those students not invited to apply will receive a "thanks, try again next year" email. Please see the GSDSEF Screening Process in the Guidelines section below for more information.
