  • June 19th, 2020 ICOE and our Imperial County School Districts are committed to the following principles as we move toward reopening our schools:  1.   Our focus/priority is on a genuine effort to ensure we meet the critical and varied needs of our students and families in a safe and responsible manner.

  • While most 65-year-olds are planning for retirement, Imperial Pathways Charter School recent graduate Estella Olivares is only thinking about ways she can further her education. At age 65, Ms. Olivares has made it a goal to obtain her high school diploma, become a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor, and complete a program for a barber’s license.

  • Education leaders throughout Imperial County have been working diligently to plan for a safe return to school in the Fall. Utilizing local, regional, state, and federal guidance, along with stakeholder input, this effort has resulted in the development of the Pathway to Reopening Our Schools: COVID-19 Recovery Guidance which is being released today.

  • Over the past several days, we have watched protests call for justice and equality after the tragic killing of George Floyd. We’ve seen thousands of people from all ages and backgrounds engage in nonviolent peaceful protests to stand up and speak out against racism and injustice. Unfortunately, we’ve also witnessed violence in communities across America as a response to our failure to recognize all people as equal under the law.

  • As we release our 2019-2020 Annual Report, we would like to thank our community for helping our students succeed and thrive in the past year, even when circumstances took an unexpected turn.

  • On April 1, 2020, the ICOE Foundation for Education awarded ten (10) scholarships to Imperial County students who are attending a community college, university or technical school in the fall. This unique scholarship program identifies outstanding students enrolled in special education programs and alternative education schools.

  • All Imperial County Public School Facilities Shall Remain Closed for the Remainder of the 2019-20 School Year April 1, 2020 Residents of Imperial County, In alignment with recommendations from the Governor and State Superintendent of Schools, today we are announcing the extension of school facility closures through the remainder of the school year.

  • In order to prioritize the health and safety of our students and employees, we will be closing all ICOE facilities to the public effective Thursday, March 19 until the stay-at-home order by health officials is lifted, and limiting the number of employees that report to ICOE for work.  Only essential functions for ICOE, local schools, and our community will be operational with as few staff as required to perform them.
