El Centro - Here's a quick video of the local school spelling champions who are set to compete in the Imperial County Regional Spelling Bee.
- El Centro - The 12th Annual Regional Spelling Bee will take place on Wednesday evening, March 15th at the SHS Jimmie Cannon Theater. The event will showcase the best spellers from local K-8 schools and is open to the public. This year the Spelling Bee will be live-streamed via the Imperial Valley Press Facebook page: (https://www.facebook.com/ivpress) starting at 6pm.
- Don't miss the Imperial County Education Career Fair ICOE will host its 4th Annual Imperial County Education Career Fair on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Southwest High School (Multi-Purpose Room). This event will be a great opportunity for those seeking careers in education to connect with school districts and higher education institutions.
- Calipatria – Just three days before the start of her sophomore year at Calipatria High School, Danielle Flores received the unexpected news that she had stage four Hodgkin’s-Lymphoma. The ensuing eighteen months for Danielle would be the toughest of her life as she battled cancer through radiation and dreaded chemotherapy sessions.

- 2017 Imperial Valley Agriculture Poster Contest Guidelines Overview: The El Centro Area Chamber of Commerce invites all students to submit a poster design that promotes the importance of agriculture in our community. The designs should focus on the benefits agriculture has on our residents, our economy and its impact around the world. The winning poster design will be displayed at to be determined location on Interstate 8. There will also be a cash prize of $500 for the winning poster.
- Request for Bids: Recognizing the need to bridge the Homework Gap to allow students to reach their full academic potential. The Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE) has launched an infrastructure proof of concept initiative that will help ensure equal access to Internet services throughout our county. The initiative begins by serving one community in Imperial County and once success has been demonstrated, expansion to other parts of Imperial County is anticipated. ICOE is requesting bids from qualified vendors for the deployment of a private education wireless LTE network.
- Wednesday, January 18, 2017 El Centro – The Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE) announces the hiring of Alex Wells as Associate Superintendent of Operations, where he will oversee the Business, Technology, Facilities, and Human Resources functions of the organization. An Imperial County native, Wells comes to ICOE from the El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) where he spent the last ten years as the Chief Financial Officer and Controller.
