    Twenty-eight institutions visited 11 schools to speak with almost 3400 Imperial County students as part of Higher Education Week! From September 18th to September 21st, students were able to speak with recruiters from higher education institutions and discuss degrees, programs, housing, financial aid, and to answer whatever questions or concerns a student may have. Students & Parents Night gave parents of higher education bound students the opportunity to meet recruiters and discuss the goals of their children.

    Julie Adams was the keynote speaker on Tuesday, September 19th, for the Project PRIME Celebration dinner event. The two year Project PRIME program, focusing on preparing students for the 21st century and supporting teachers through a PD model made to increase students' mathematical ability, officially came to a successful end.     The ICOE College and Career Readiness Initiative is pleased to present the Imperial County Higher Education Week (HEW) K-12 Activities Manual for Elementary, Middle and High Schools. To promote the importance of preparation for college and career at all grade levels, a series of events and activities have been created to implement at your school sites during Higher Ed. Week, September 18-22, 2017.

    September 8, 2017 Brawley – With over 40 visually impaired students county-wide, the team of six Special Education staff stay busy.  The Visually Impaired (VI) hub at ICOE’s Del Rio Campus on the east side of Brawley is also home to Special Ed. teacher, Guadalupe (Lupe) Gonzalez, who just recently finished her Education Specialist Credential for the Visually Impaired.

    Former Imperial County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Herb Farrar passed away on July 26, 2017 from complications associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.   "Dr. Farrar was not only a great leader", said County Superintendent Dr. Todd Finnell, "but he was an extraordinary man that I've been blessed to have as a mentor, coach, and friend."

    The 2017 school year for ICOE was kicked off with the annual all-hands Welcome Back Event! The 500+ employees attended a morning of fun events, entertainment, and inspiring messages to recharge and motivate the crowd.
