    Brawley Cattle Call Arena hosted the 28th Annual Mini Rodeo for Special Needs Children and Adults on November 9th, 2016. With Cattle Call week hosting a myriad of activities each day, the Mini Rodeo has become one of the largest involving every portion of the county.

    Migrant Education's Regional Advisory Council selected the Regional 2017 migrant parent of the year, the Alumnus of the year, honor student, and the logo of the year on October 12th. Migrant students submitted their logo drawings and parents selected a parent, an alumnus and an honor student to represent them at the 16th Annual Parent Conference held on Saturday, November 5th, 2016. The winners will also be representing the Migrant Education Program at the 38th Statewide Annual Parent Conference on March 10-12, 2017 in Los Angeles, CA.

    MANA de Imperial Valley, a National Latina Organization will recognize three honorees during the 2016 Las Primeras Awards Gala and Scholarship Fundraiser in Imperial Valley.  Each year MANA de Imperial Valley honors Latina women from Imperial County who embody the values and philosophy of the organization of empowering Latinas through leadership development, community service and advocacy. The honorees are nominated by community members.

    The Consulate of Mexico in Calexico and El Centro, CA bestowed one of its highest honors to Dr. Sandra Kofford; the prestigious National Ohtli Award. The Ohtli Award recognizes Mexican, Mexican-American, or Latino leaders whose efforts have contributed significantly to the empowerment of Mexican communities abroad. Ohtli is a Náhuatl word that means "pathway" in English, or "camino" in Spanish.
