The curriculum and instruction department provides comprehensive support and technical assistance to districts and schools on educational programs and services for English learners. The department provides tools, resources, and information on policy, requirements, research, best practices and professional development on curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
2015 English Learner Institute
On January 28 and 29, ICOE hosted the 2015 English Learner Institute where more than 200 teachers and administrators were treated to dynamic professional development with several breakout sessions focusing on Common Core Standards and English Language Learners. Participants heard from inspirational keynote speakers and special guests including Lupita Cortez, Alcalá, Jo Gusman, Manny Scott and Margaret Heritage.
English Learner Action Team (ELAT)
The purpose and mission of the English Learner Action Team (ELAT) is to promote effective schooling for K-12 English Language Learners at the county, district, school, and classroom levels by promoting excellence and ensuring academic success through shared responsibility and high expectations.
