Overview

The Application Development department is responsible for the maintenance, support and development of applications that meet business and educational needs. Our goal is to provide innovative services and solutions to the K-12 community utilizing current development standards and best practices. Our team has built expertise in deploying numerous platforms using the latest in Microsoft and open source technologies including, but not limited to, Microsoft .NET, LAMP, Web services, and Web 2.0 interactivity.

Business Application Development

The Business Application Development unit designs, develops, maintains and supports the Imperial County Schools Information Systems (ICSIS), which in addition to serving ICOE, serves all local school districts and the local community college. ICSIS is continually being updated and expanded in order to meet the growing needs of local school districts and the county office.

Web Application Development

The Web Application Development unit houses a team of talented web developers trained in the most advanced aspects of web design and development. We specialize in complex, database-driven web applications and are responsible for the development of several statewide projects.  These projects notably include: MyTechDesk, a web-based work order management system for California schools; and Calaxy, a suite of Web 2.0 tools for today’s classroom complete with media hosting, blogs, wikis, and our own instance of Moodle--a popular web-based course management tool.  Both MyTechDesk and Calaxy are currently in use by hundreds of schools across the state.
