Friday Night Live builds partnerships for positive youth development that engage young people in actively contributing to their well-being and that of their communities; changes community norms related to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; prevents and reduces harm to young people and community members.

The FNL program is designed for high school-aged young people. It is motivated by youth-adult partnerships that create essential and powerful activities that enhance and improve local communities. Activities such as community service, social action activities, dances, movie nights and participation in advocacy for safe and healthy environments are organized by youth to appeal to youth.
 

Friday Night Live Programs:

  • Encourage young people to develop programs that are fun and meaningful
  • Promote positive messages through shared experience
  • Encourage peer-oriented programming (youth driven and youth led)
  • Are goal-directed, action oriented, and innovative
  • Encourage and empower young people as active leaders and community  resources
  • Have broad appeal to diverse ethnic, racial and social groups
  • Encourage youth to care about each other and their environment
  • Offer conferences and trainings for young people to develop leadership skills
