Maribel Salcedo, Teacher for the Severely Handicapped

In 1995, Maribel began working as an instructional assistant for ICOE.  In 1999, she substituted for Calexico Unified School District in general education classes. Then in 2000, she accepted a long-term substitute assignment and taught for one semester at Rockwood Elementary.

The following year, she worked as a long-term substitute at Central Union High School.  After that, she dedicated two years working for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program where she acquired many skills in signing.  During the 2003-2004 school year, Maribel returned to work for the SH population at IVCEC and is now serving the community-based Willie Moreno Jr. High School students.

Maribel was born and raised in Mexicali and moved to Calexico in 1989.  She currently resides in Calexico with her husband, and daughter, Melissa, and son, Alejandro Eli.  During her free time, she enjoys being with her family.

Instructional and Behavioral Assistants working with Maribel are Jose Cardona and Maria Duarte.
