Overview

The state funds certain programs to help assist local educators and administrators in improving students achievement. These programs include:

  • District Assistance and Intervention Team (DAIT)
  • School Assistance & Intervention Team (SAIT)
  • Quality Education Investment Act (SB 1133)

District Assistance and Intervention (DAIT)

Imperial County Office of Education is a state approved provider of DAIT services. A county office of education team provides targeted technical assistance and support Program Improvement (PI) districts in Corrective Action (Year 3 of PI). This team works with the district to examine current practices at both the district and school levels by conducting the following:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of current practices
  • Identify and prioritize the major areas of need
  • Develop and implement actions that target those needs
  • Help the district exit PI status

School Assistance and Intervention Team (SAIT)

Imperial County Office is a state approved SAIT provider. The purpose of SAIT is to provide intensive support and monitoring to assist state-monitored schools in improving student learning. Schools deemed as state-monitored receive one-time federal funding to contract with SAIT to identify critical areas to improve student achievement.

Quality Education Investment Act (SB 1133)

Imperial County Office is the local lead for Quality Education Investment Act (QEIA) services. We work with San Diego and Orange County Offices in this initiative. QEIA is designed to improve academic instruction and raise student achievement in schools serving high percentages of students living in poverty, students still learning to speak English and students facing complex educational challenges.   This act requires the develop of exemplary practices to create the high quality working conditions and excellent learning environment  that strives to maintain highly qualified teacher, administrators and staff.
