Secondary Step Up to Writing (6-12)
Step Up to Writing is a collection of writing strategies the meets diverse student needs. Providing explicit research-based instructional support, the Step Up to Writing strategies lead to increased writing proficiency across all grade levels.

6 + 1 Trait Writing Assessment (6-12)
The 6+1 Trait Writing and Assessment model gives teachers a powerful framework to formatively evaluate student writing through an analytical approach focused on the traits that characterize quality writing. Used in thousands of classrooms throughout the world, this assessment model was developed by educators seeking a better system for grading students' written work as well as providing effective feedback that could help students improve their writing.

Preparing for the 7th Grade CST Writing Assessment (5-7)
Teachers will have an opportunity to explore and analyze resources available through the CDE website. Those resources include writing standards, released prompts, and essays with scoring rationale. Teachers will also learn strategies for helping students use their time strategically during the writing session.

EAP/RIAP
The CSU has worked with the State Board of Education (SBE) and the California Department of Education (CDE) to develop the Early Assessment Program (EAP). EAP incorporates the CSU's placement standards into existing high school standards tests in English and mathematics.
