Overview
The Early Reading First Program provides comprehensive professional development which links California’s Preschool Foundations (standards), scientifically based strategies, and innovative curricula.
Topics include but are not limited to: oral language, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, written expression, concepts of print, English Language acquisition, and assessment.
Early Reading First Coaches train and support teachers and aides in: classroom management, skillful instruction, and classroom environment.Coaches also provide model lessons and conduct classroom observations.
In addition, Early Reading First offers support to parents and their children in Kindergarten transition and increasing Literacy in the home.
