Overview
In 2002, the the Imperial County Office of Education held its first Principals’ Academy. Now called the Administrator Training Program, the goal of the program remains to provide intensive leadership training to implement a standards-based, data-driven system designed to improve student achievement.
The two-year comprehensive program includes forty hours of training in curriculum and forty hours in leadership management and technology for administrators. The program includes an additional 80 hours of follow-up application activities (i.e. practicum) related to the specific content learned in sessions.
Participants are regularly asked to self assess their experience and skills related to specific topics; in this way, administrators can individualize their learning in areas such as data or supervision to the greatest extent possible, both within sessions and in practicum activities.
*Participants must possess a California Tier I Administrative Services Credential and be employed as an administrator*
