Welcome to the P-16 Council

The Imperial Valley P-16 Council is a preschool through higher education community collaborative promoting a college-going culture.

The Council’s vision is to increase significantly student eligibility, admittance, and attendance at post-secondary institutions.

P-16 Goals

The P-16 Council and its member organizations have identified three goals in 2008-2009 to promote a college-going culture and college attendance:
  1. To support the achievement of rigorous coursework in mathematics, English, including writing, and science for all students.
  2. To provide information, resources, and opportunities for students and their families to increase expectations and develop enthusiasm about college as a viable option.
  3. To increase community-wide knowledge about the P-16 Council and the support of the Imperial County College-Going Initiative and enlist fiscal resources for its accomplishment.
  4. To develop and implement strategies to assess and address obstacles to college completion in Imperial County for local students, including transfers from community college.
