About the Site
The English Learner Mentoring website includes the following modules:

• Belief Systems - Explains how sharing the vision that “all children can learn” will support the goals of responsibility and accountability for effectively meeting the instructional needs of English Learners.
  
• Theoretical Foundations - Summarizes the current research on language acquisition, which is the cornerstone for language development, and related topics that have implications for improving student academic progress.
  
• Teaching Strategies - Defines the five fluency levels on the California English Language Development Test (CELDT), as well as strategies for grouping for instruction.
  
• Lesson Plans - Explains the difference between English Language Development (ELD) and Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE); includes lesson design strategies and sample lessons for each approach. 
  
• Assessment - Provides background information and strategies for assessing the progress of English Learners.
  
• Supervisor Perspective - Addresses the importance of administrator participation in observing and evaluating the effectiveness of instruction in meeting the needs of English Learners.
  
• Accountability - Discusses state and federal funding and compliance issues that relate to English Learners.
