John D. Anderson, Imperial County Superintendent of School has been selected as a man of the year by the Center for Family Solutions.
Each year The Center for Family Solutions honors selected Imperial County men and women during their annual meeting, held this year on May 5, 2006 at Barbara Worth Country Club in Holtville. The Center invites organizations, institutions, service clubs, and individuals in the Imperial Valley to select men and women who contribute to family values through their work, their example, or their activities, and who serve as role models to the youth in our community. |
Mr. Anderson was nominated by Child Development Services for the 2006 honor. He has supported children in Imperial County through various early childhood programs during his tenure as Superintendent of Brawley Elementary District, Central Union High School District, and Imperial County Office of Education.
Throughout his career he has been affiliated with many community/service organizations including Neighborhood House, American Cancer Society, Kiwanis International, Calexico Educational Foundation, Brawley Economic Development Commission, El Centro Educational Foundation, Coalition Against Domestic Violence, El Centro Chamber Board of Directors, Citizen’s Advisory Commission, and San Diego State University/IVC Dean’s Advisory Committee. Mr. Anderson has been Co-Sponsor for the Children’s Fair with the Child Abuse Prevention Council for 27 years.
Mr. Anderson was raised in Calexico and now resides in El Centro with his wife Marie. He has two wonderful daughters, Carol and Virginia, and four grandchildren. He communicates fluently in two additional languages, Spanish and French. He attended Calexico High School, Stanford University for his Bachelors Degree in English, UCLA for his Masters Degree in English, and San Diego State/IVC for his Teaching and Administrative Credentials.
